Unos treinta alumnos de la Isca Academy, en Exeter, Inglaterra, aceptaron la negativa del colegio, pero no se quedaron de brazos cruzados. Decidieron concurrir en pollera, al igual que sus compañeras. Las fotos circularon por los medios de comunicación y redes sociales. Un simple cambio de vestimenta dio paso a una protesta.
Curiosamente, después del primer día de polleras, la temperatura se normalizó y cayó hasta los 20 grados. Sin embargo, los niños no dieron el brazo a torcer y la protesta se extendió hasta los cien participantes. De hecho, se espera que la manifestación continúe hasta que los directivos revean el código de vestimenta.
Pese a lo que se podría imaginar y amparados en un vacío reglamentario, los chicos no recibieron sanción por llevar falda a clases. Algunos tomaron prestadas las polleras de su hermana o novia; otros no dudaron en comprarse una prenda para ellos. Incluso los más arriesgados se depilaron las piernas. Uno de los alumnos describió el uso como "muy refrescante" a The Guardian, mientras que otro destacó sentirse cómodo con la brisa que corre debajo de la prenda femenina.
La mayoría de los padres, por su parte, manifestaron su acuerdo e incluso cierto orgullo por la valentía de sus hijos. "Ryan dijo que era insoportable. Otra madre se sumó a la indignación colectiva y dijo: "A los niños les fastidia la injusticia. Ven a las profesoras con sandalias y faldas mientras ellos tienen que llevar pantalones largos y zapatos, y los mayores incluso bléiser".
Tan solo uno de los chicos recibió un apercibimiento, pero no por usar pollera, sino porque la consideraron demasiado corta. La directora del colegio, Aimee Mitchell, debió salir a aclarar la situación y dijo que todavía no se revisó el estricto código de vestimenta porque antes quiere consultar a padres y estudiantes.
"Los pantalones cortos no forman parte en la actualidad de nuestro uniforme masculino. Pero, viendo que el tiempo está cada vez más cálido, estoy abierta a plantear un cambio a futuro y hablaré con las familias y el personal sobre el tema en las próximas semanas", sostuvo en un comunicado.
